The leadership of Studio Milou&Porter brings together a diverse talents, enabling our Australian practice to deliver unique projects, enriched by a track record of award-winning design in Europe and Asia. Our work deeply responds to the specific context of each project, drawing on insights and architectural experience that extend well beyond geographical boundaries. Working closely with our existing studios in Singapore, France, and Hanoi, studioMilou&Porter assures design and project management services and delivery characterized by the creative energy, flexibility and efficiency that our international experience and resources bring, across all our engagements.

 

Our People

Annelise Porter, Managing Director, studioMilou&Porter

With 25 years of experience leading projects across Australia, the Middle East, Africa, and India, Annelise Porter brings a wealth of knowledge and cultural insight to her work. Her lived experience of diverse international cultures and traditions enriches her architectural approach, seamlessly blending global influences while honouring Australia’s unique culture and Indigenous heritage.

Annelise’s expertise spans a wide range of project types, from commercial, retail, and hospitality private developments to public educational institutions, and large-scale masterplanning. With dual qualifications in architecture and interior design, she takes a holistic, client-focused approach, ensuring multidisciplinary stakeholder engagement and delivering exceptional project quality with meticulous attention to detail and coordination.

 

Suzanne Ogge

A social anthropologist, museologist and heritage specialist who began her career in Native Title, Suzanne brings over two decades of experience working on international consultancies for UNESCO’s Culture Sector throughout Asia, the Pacific, Easter Europe and the Arab States, Suzanne heads the studio’s Heritage Department. Born in Melbourne and based in Singapore and Paris, Suzanne’s brings an informed understanding of our project’s cultural and sociological requirements that ensure that our response to client briefs and project execution navigates a project’s human landscapes both harmoniously and efficiently.

 

Jean Francois Milou, Design Director

Born in Niort in 1953, Jean-François Milou graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He founded studioMilou architecture in 1988 in Paris, where he developed an agency specializing in the reuse of old buildings, museums and major cultural projects. In France, he notably carried out, among other projects, the Musée des tumulus de Bougon in central western France, the Cite de la Mer in Cherbourg in Normandy, the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse and the Carreau du Temple in Paris. Following an international competition, Jean-Francois Milou was selected to create the National Gallery of Singapore, and in 2009 created studio Milou Singapore in 2009. Since then, he also created the studio Milou Vietnam in 2017, where he received in 2015 the prize for the best international architect for the Colloquium Center for Inter-disciplinary Studies in Science and Education at Quy Nhon.

 

Trung Thanh Nguyen, Mananging-Director, Vietnam and Design Team Manager

Trained in Vietnam and based in Singapore and Hanoi, Trung brings an exceptional team and resource management to our projects in Asia, and reinforces the efficiency of studioMilou&Porter in architectural design and documentation delivery. As Managing Director of Vietnam, Trung’s understanding of Asian markets and working methods ensures deepened client relations in the region, and the highest level of architectural production with precision and timely execution.

 

Our Beginnings

While based in Dubai and serving as an International Councillor for the Australian Institute of Architects during, Annelise mete Suzanne and Jean Francois when studioMilou was awarded multiple Chapter Awards in 2017. A natural synergy between the three unfolded into friendship, followed by discussions about a future collaboration in Australia. Several meetings followed over the coming years in Melbourne, Singapore and Paris to explore partnership possibilities based on shared a philosophy work ethics and ambition to create an exceptional company able to provide combined and unparalleled competencies in the Australian market. The trio officially formalised their partnership in 2024, leading to the establishment of the Melbourne-based practice, StudioMilou&Porter.
